Accessibility

The Jeanne & Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre is committed to provide a safe, dignified and welcoming experience for everyone visiting, working and performing at the arts centre.

Assistive Devices

We have two venues within the Lougheed Centre – the Cargill Theatre and the Mayer Family Community Hall – both of which can accommodate a variety of assistive devices, including but not limited to, wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches, and oxygen tanks.

The Cargill Theatre has 36 wheelchair accessible seats that can also accommodate assistive devices. These are located in the fixed wheelchair locations by the entrances and the loge seating on each side of both the orchestra and balcony levels. Please see image and more details below.

Any patron using large assistive devices to move about, such as a walker or crutches, and prefers to sit in a fixed seating row can have their assistive device checked during the performance. An usher will collect the device before the performance begins, returning it during intermission and after the performance. Patrons who use short canes can choose to keep them in a fixed seating row as long as it is short enough to be below their sight line and is kept vertical, not impeding the aisle.

Patrons who use an assistive device should contact the box office at 780-608-2922 for assistance choosing the best seat for their needs and for information on our accessible seating options. The majority of accessible seats are only available to purchase through the box office.

Hearing Assistance

The Cargill Theatre has an infrared sound enhancement system for the hearing impaired. Look for the logo below on show posters where hearing assistance is available.

If you wish to use a headset, please ask one of our front of house staff when you arrive at the theatre and they will be more than glad to assist you. Please note: A piece of I.D. or Credit Card will be required as a deposit while the headset is in your possession (don’t worry, it will be returned when you return the headset at the end of the performance). These devices as are available as first come, first serve. If you have any questions about the hearing assistance system, please call the box office for more information.
